Dice Curro que a la herramienta de podar la llamamos Tijerón, como aumentativo de tijera, y que fue introducido desde Francia; que no sabe con exactitud cuando fue eso pero que otro día nos lo cuenta. Nosotros lo contamos tal cual.

Vara y pulgar. Sistema de poda empleado en el marco de Jerez, que consiste en formar la cepa generalmente con dos brazos: una vara en uno y un pulgar en el otro, ambos rotativos cada año, pudiéndose ampliar el número de ellos tanto como se quiera, teniendo como norma de poda mantener las carreras de verdes y secos, dejar la menor cantidad de la madera vieja y evitar que se estorben los brazos.

Vara y pulgar (stick and thumb). The pruning style used in the Marco de Jerez, which consists of shaping the vine so that it usually has two arms: with a stick on one and a thumb on the other. They will rotate every year, being able to add as many of them as you want, but taking into account the pruning rule of maintaining the race between the green part and the dry part; leaving the least amount of old wood; and ensuring that the arms don´t get in each others way.
